The Mud Flies as
Cars are Crushed in the Demo Derby
Three rounds of full size cars, a compact round, a consy, a compact figure 8, and the feature give the Effingham County Fair demo derby fans their fill of smash 'em up derby action! A few fires and a few injuries dampen the action a bit - but overall a great derby to close the 2008 Effingham County Fair!

JMC Knocks Out A Great Concert
With enough sound to rattle the grandstand Jason Michael Carroll put on a show that had a little bit of something for everyone. With some of his own music like I Can Sleep When I'm Dead and songs from some of his heros like Areosmith and R.E.O. the night was filled with high energy music! To top it off his son joined him on stage for the last few numbers.As usual - we got pictures of the concert for you.
Great Weather and
a Great Rodeo!
Thursday night the cowboys were in rare form. The capacity crowd in the grandstand enjoyed a night of fast action bull riding, horse broncing and had some laughs along the way. Thanks again to all the cowboys and other hands at the Rough Stock Rodeo for putting on another fantastic show!

Tractor Pulling!
| The roar of tractors, trucks and semis filled the air around the Effingham County Fairgrounds on Monday night and Wednesday night, and we got pictures

It did not rain on our parade
but it did rain on our pageant!
The queen contestants were ready for the water, but the strong thunderstorms cleared the grandstand and delayed the pageant for about 40 minutes. After the worst blew through the pageant continued with the fair crew and others carrying the contestants to the stage over the muddy track!
Kaitlin Hinkle was crowned the 2008 Miss Effingham County Fair Queen. Other
winners in the pageant were Mandy Ervin, first runner up; Audrey Pruemer, second runner-up; and Gina Thoele, youth ambassador.
The Little Miss was also held, with one "dry" round and one "wet" round of contestants taking the stage.

Ron Voelker was the grand marshal for the twilight parade. Look at the nearly 100 parade pictures!
As usual we had another great talent show. This year the Jackie Warner was the junior winner and the senior division winners were Gena and Laura Thoele. See pictures from the show

Before the race veryone was asking "Is it going to rain?" Cool temperatures made for a great day of races that made people soon forget the weather.
